On Thursday, an Afghan police opened fire on a group of foreign citizens in the Cure Hospital. As a result three foreign citizens who were later revealed to be Americans were killed and an Afghan woman was injured. Confirming that the assailant was a police, Ministry of Interior said that he was arrested and was under investigation. Like many other cases, the media would not track his destiny and except concerned officials of Ministry of Interior, no one will find out about the motive behind. But such incident reflects serious security and intelligence loopholes in our security establishments.
It is completely obvious that Afghan security forces are under circumstances to hide their mentality from their colleagues. Sitting with a group of security forces, you hear from their harsh experiences, incidents they were eye witness to social and political issues. When the case reaches to presence of foreign countries, no body shows least hesitation to express their notion. Hence, it really does not need a close and tight scrutiny to detect those who oppose foreigners to the extent that they might even open fire on them.
It is really shame for us. Afghans who have experience as refugees always complain about misbehavior they face in neighboring countries. Tens of thousands of Afghans have got citizenship in developed countries where they face no problem on account of their previous nationality. But still no foreigners ever wanted to stay in our country. They are our guests and will leave the country in no time. So, why we do not have the least tolerance to welcome even those who want to help us get rid of our own miseries?
Afghan should understand that foreign citizens are here only to pull our country back on the smooth track. They never asked us to give them something and instead always asked and supported us on how to improve our social, economic and political conditions. Does not it show the depth of notorious behavior to shoot those who are enthusiastic to support us? If today U.S. and its allies stop providing fund for our security forces, the government has not the budget to pay their salaries. Police like the one who shot dead three innocent American citizens should understand that without the presence of the US, the situation will turn to pre-2001 period when people were dying of hunger and deprivation.
