Is VIP Security Against Law?

Being the capital city of the country, Kabul is full of important personalities like politicians, tribal chiefs, national elders, parliamentarians, foreign bureaucrats, chiefs of forces, industrialists, and many others who all need security and protection. All of them are under different kind of threats either from their enemies or due to their status and positions they hold. It is the reason why, we see policemen and other security guards deployed around their houses and they are escorted by the security personnel when they are on move. Having a look at their importance, they are accompanied by a different number of security guards and some of them are given the services of hundreds of men from police and other security personnel.

In aggregate, thousands of our brave police and other security agencies are working to protect these VIPs and the number increases with the announcement of any security alert. This unnatural arrangement has done two harms; the money of public is spent on people in which most of them do nothing for public and thus this precious money is wasted and the treatment of these policemen by these VIPs is not appropriate and their spirit has been damaged as they are treated like slaves or personal guards. We see that these guards perform their duties not only in danger but in conditions when they are not given due food or shelter.

Our country seems to be the only place where a lot many irrelevant people are given security and their expenses are met from the public budget. It is reasonable if important government position holders and foreign experts who are here to serve the public should be given security but except this, giving security to the unimportant and irrelevant people is treason from the public money. These important people are having a lot many problems like personal or tribal enmities so they should arrange the security all on their own expense and they should not be provided with any kind of police or public security arrangement. It is also necessary that they should be given the security with the conditions which are in international standards and practices and they should never be able to misuse or humiliate the morale or honor of our security forces.

When common public sees that thousands of police and security personnel are doing the duty of safeguarding a lot of corrupt people, they not only feel bad about the government but their enthusiasm also diminishes about the police and security forces. The new government should make such an arrangement that this baseless system should be finished forever.
