Emigration Rises among the Afghan Youths

Our youths flock to foreign countries to get rid of the challenges being experienced in our society. In spite of facing deadly adventures on the way to their destinations, they fly their nests recklessly. Such mass travels are increasing uncontrollably. A large number of Afghan youths live in refugee camps in many countries -especially in Malaysia who seek refuge in Australia. However, many more emigrate from the country with each passing day.

Undeniably, there are some challenges ahead of our youths which can be the driving force behind their emigrations. One of the key factors is economic constraint. Austerity is a cause of grave concern in Afghan society. People suffer seriously from poverty and unemployment. For instance, if you talk with an Afghan, no matter young or old, he will start railing against the economic challenges and unfold the story of their lives angrily. They feel a great worry how to make the ends meet with the mass unemployment.

With the withdrawal of foreign forces, many NGOs terminated their activities and left the countries too. Moreover, investments decreased to a critical point.  Therefore, unemployment emerged among the Afghan youths. Bud did the government care about their problems?

Seemingly, government shows no concern in this regard. The officials have not even thought of a mechanism to create job opportunities for our youths so as to decrease emigration rate. Of course, government does not only ignore the mass emigration but holds negotiation with the neighboring countries not to deport the Afghan refugees whenever they decide to do so. Normally, Afghan government attributes all its failure to the three decades of war. Hence, it is believed that within the last decade, government failed to address the problems.

It can be noted that a lot of university graduates are spending in refugee camps. Moreover, there are some of our compatriots, who were also university graduates, lost their lives on the way to Australia. This is, indeed, a matter of great concern.

Insecurity is the next factor. Taliban militants seem to be as active as ever before. Some lose their lives by Improvised Explosive Device (IED), explosions, terrorist attacks, etc. Travelers are searched by the militants and will be butchered while carrying any membership cards in government organizations or NGOs.

Some live in dilemma waiting impatiently to see who will run the presidency in the new government and what changes will occur. Furthermore, the investors have delayed their projects due to the same reason. This issue aggravates the unemployment condition.

Hope the government breaks the silence and attends the problems of Afghan youths. A proper mechanism will have to be taken to obviate unemployment and to decrease emigration.
