Insufficient Health Services

A government within a state is formed so as to lead the country regarding political, economic and social fields. It is the duty of the government to make sure that the citizens of the country are given their due rights and they are able to benefit from the collective social life.

Among different rights that the citizens of a country expect from the governments, health facility is a very important one. Without enough health facilities it is really difficult for the people to play an active role within the society or even to live alive.

The right to live is one of the most basic rights of the human beings. If people are not provided with the facilities to live alive, this very basic right is violated and the state and government, as a matter of fact, lose their vitality and importance.

Unfortunately there are many countries in the world that are not able to provide sufficient health services to their people and Afghanistan is one of them.

People in Afghanistan die of very minor diseases that can be cured with little care and attention. Though there are some improvements made in the major cities, most of the other places in the country are really deprived of even the preliminary requirements.

A recent report from southeastern Paktia province can be taken as an example. According to the statements of the residents there are around 37 healthcare centers across Paktia but the facilities lack doctors and equipment. Even the equipments that are present are not modern and do not suffice the needs of the people.

Nazruddin, a dweller of the Sahak area in Zurmat district, said the only healthcare centre in the town was without facilities.

“Patients who visit the district clinic are only examined and have never been given medicines, which they buy from the bazaar,” he said.

He said people spent thousands of Afghanis by travelling to the provincial capital and Kabul for treatment.

If the people have to spend so much money just for the health services, how would they be able to take care of other aspects of life? How can they think of their food, shelter and education?

The situation is really pathetic and Afghan government would really require boosting the measures to curb the situation. It has to start from the provinces and districts that are neglected in this regard so that people have the facilities near their residents, which is not a favor to them but it is their fundamental right.
