On July 4, the previous head of election commission returned to Kabul.  Previously there were reports that he escaped the country like tens of other politicians who are blamed of political and financial corruption. Similar comments were made against him too. Dr. Abdullah Abdullah told that if he was not engaged in electoral rigging, he would not have escaped.  Similarly, the chief of Election Commission, Mr. Nooristani indirectly regretted his previous statement With Zia-ul-Haq Amerkhel resigned from his position after release of an audio-tape which was a phone conversation between two persons, one of whom was claimed to be Mr. Amerkhel. After his resignation he appreciated him and called his sympathetic and patriot person. Few days ago, on TOLO television, he said that he called as patriot a day before the release of audio-tape. Though he emphasized that tape needs to be authenticated and identified to whom really tape belonged but his voice tone was in manner that he himself also believed that Amerkhel was involved in electoral fraud.

Seemingly, he believed that he escaped the country and would not return. He also talked of differences and even controversy among commissioners and other officials of election commission with him.

His resignation sparked contradictory reaction. Some including Mr. President Karzai branded it as responsible move and hoped that it would pave the way for normalization of election process and result announcement. On the other hand, many others blamed him of corruption saying that if he was not engaged in electoral rigging, he would not have resigned.

Likewise, the report that he fled to other country made many angrier. Afghan social media users harshly criticized him and said that he must have been involved in electoral fraud. Many demanded his persecution by Interpol police. His flight out of the country was interpreted as prove of his involvement in fraud and of course responsible for the aftermath of political uncertainty caused.

Now he is back to country. Rumors will decline. But the destiny of election has remained uncertain.  Reportedly, the votes gained by Dr. Ashraff Ghani are far larger than Dr. Abdullah. But Dr. Abdullah claims millions votes counted are fake. Thus, he counts himself as the winner of the election if only pure votes are counted. This situation has worried people and sparked concerns regarding dragging the country back into previous hell. So, let’s see whether the politicians act responsibly or destroy achievements for the sake of their narrow interests.
