The kidnapping and rape accusation case against former MP Abdul Kabir Ranjbar has made the top news headlines of the week. Mr. Ranjbar has been the leading political figure of Afghan government and an active member of Haq Wa Adalat political party. He was arrested and accused of rape case by the Attorney General's Office on Saturday June 23, 2012. According to Deputy Attorney General Rahmatullah Nazari's, "Mr. Ranjbar is accused of kidnapping and raping a girl."

The girl was kidnapped from Dehsabz area of Kabul city eight months ago. "Mr. Ranjbar has been under detention since the victim reported the incident that she had been with Kabir Ranjbar for several months and had been raped by him." He added that "the police have investigated eight suspects in connection to this case and they have discovered that Ranjbar had been involved in this case."
The case is under investigations and yet there are no further details available, Nazari said.

Mr. Ranjbar is one of the high ranked members of Haq Wa Adalat Political Party. The political parties usually favor their culprit members and defend them against the Attorney and police departments in such cases. But this is the first case that is strongly condemned by the party officials. The party, via an official notice regarding the case has urged the Attorney and Judiciary Institutions to deal the case according to the law and order, regardless of his political and governmental background.

We have always been condemning and arguing against the insurgencies committed by the armed groups rivaling government. The civilians are sometimes blamed of not cooperating with government security forces during their operations. Though corruptions excel in government offices, the people are still hopeful for a change.

Considering all the government's failure, the rape and kidnapping accusation case of Mr. Ranjbar with a high profile background in government is adding to the black spots on the system and degrades the credit of his party and government's high ranked officials' status. The incident has put question marks on the slogans once chanted by him as a politician and everyone is anxious to witness the court's judgment regarding the case.
