“You are deemed as a culprit, if you are found working for any organization other than Taliban and you deserve beheading, if you are found working for the society’s enhancements” according to Taliban’s ideology of guarding the Islamic Empire.

Following the comprehensive civilian targeted attacks during the month of Ramadan, the recent beheading of seventeen civilians in Kajaki district of Hilmand province in southern region has topped the front page headlines of national and international media.

Though none of the armed groups in country has claimed the responsibility of the recent incident, but considering the previews of similar incidents, there is no doubt that Taliban who have been committing such crimes and inhuman acts since 1996 are behind the scene.

Taliban, during the last decade of conflict had not directly targeted the civilians; though, dozens of civilians have been killed as result of their so called legitimate attacks on Afghan and international security forces.

But the recent incidents of targeted attacks such as attack on Kabul Bank branch in Jalalabad in February, 2011, attack on Hotel Spozmai at Qargha Lake on June 22, 2012, the incident of Aug 14, 2012 in Nimroz where they killed 48 people including women and children during shopping for the Eid occasion in the shopping market and the latest beheading of seventeen innocent civilians in Hilmand clearly indicate that Taliban are not the guardians of religion. In fact, they are abusing the religion by using religious slogans.

There has not been a single religion in the universe whose teachings should be based on torturing and slaughtering so as to make the people follow the religion. Islam, despite being the most peaceful and complete religion in the world has been misused by the militants such as Taliban and Al-Qaeda network which has resulted to be a blacklisted concept. They are not safeguarding this religion; in fact, they have been misusing it for playing their role in political war of great game which has victimized the poor Afghan civilians.

Taliban, the so-called Islamic Soldiers have been claiming of guarding Islamic Empire. Since 1996, the early years of Taliban appearance on the screen in the region, they have massacred and beheaded thousands of Afghan civilians due to no reason other than not supporting their ideologies.

Taliban’s key leader, Mullah Omar as many times claimed of guarding civilians’ life during their operations, but unfortunately, they have been doing against their slogans. Following Omar’s statement of peace negotiation with Afghan counterparts after International Community’s withdrawal of US-led combat troops, the incidents of targeted attacks on civilians have doubled.

The scene behind the screen is mystifying, Mullah Mohammad Omar, being as the key leader of Taliban group has claimed over and over in his statements that his soldiers are not targeting the civilians. In fact, they are guarding Afghan civilians by imposing the Islamic laws in the society. But the recent incidents depict against his statements and seems like he is not in control of the Taliban network.
