For God’s Sake, Ministers!

Other day, one of the busiest junctions of the city where important offices like Ministry of Education, Gulbahar Center and Istiqlal High School are situated, was blocked for almost an hour. Already crowded roads were packed by the cars and no one was able to move even an inch forward.

It was said that an important minister was expected to pass from there and thus all the adjacent roads were closed almost half an hour before his convoy passed from here. People were in very much distress. Many of them got late from their appointments and there would certainly be patients among them who might have suffered a lot.

Taxi drivers, who were looking to carry some passengers to their destinies and earn some more before returning home in the evening, had wasted all their time in this traffic jam. Young kids, students, females and all those who were travelling alone were very much worried and they were receiving constant calls from their concerned parents or family members. In such a painful and difficult situation, almost everyone was cursing the minister.

A few days earlier, our honorable minister had to pay a visit to a particular place. As office of ministry was close but across the road, so it was decided that he would walk to the place. For this good purpose, the road was blocked and it caused great distress to the people in their cars on the road. This traffic jam caused many other adjacent roads to be blocked and there was a great disturbance everywhere.

This is a clear but painful fact that our ministers who have taken oath to serve the people, have become a burden on them and their mere movement from home to the office or office to home creates innumerable problems and distress to the people. Almost 20-40 minutes or in some cases, an hour before their arrival, the roads are blocked. This blockade brings pressure on adjacent roads and thus people's daily routine is greatly disturbed.

It is however, advised that ministers should make utmost efforts to serve the people and try not to be much distinct or superior to them. If they have enmities or other problems due to their corruption or crimes, they should quit the ministries and leave them for other honest people. But if they don't, they should move with the general traffic and after this, any kind of road blockade for VIP movements should be finished. The sooner we finish this tradition, the more people will get relieved.
