Syrian Opposition’s Embassy in Qatar

The first foreign embassy of the Syrian opposition was opened in Qatar and it was claimed that it was the true representative government of the people of Syria and due to the reason it was given the opportunity to open its maiden embassy on a foreign land.

A few days before this, the opposition of Syria represented its country in the conference of Arab nations. The Syrian opposition also demanded the right to represent Syria in the United Nations but till the latest reports, this demand has not been met though the conditions seem to be favorable.

This act of Qatar has greatly been criticized by Iran and Russia and termed to be an illegal act as there is still present the old government of Bashar-ul-Assad functioning in Damascus and there are no signs that this government will soon end and the Syrian opposition will become the sole owner of the fate of the Syrians.

It is worth mentioning here that the bloody war continuing in Syria has bathed more than 70,000 Syrians from both the sides and the infrastructure and establishment of the country has absolutely been destroyed and it will take many decades until this invalidated country is brought back to normalcy.

Almost all the political analysts of the world greatly criticized the way USA and Western powers handled the issue of Syria. Instead of adopting the strategy of negotiations and political tactfulness, they spent billions to start and support a military retaliation that pushed the country many years backward.

The Western powers thought that the government of Bashar-ul-Assad would soon retreat and they will have an easy victory just like Libya but here the situation worsened with every passing day and then there was no way to turn back.

In this regard, a number of non-democratic steps were taken in the name of democracy. A group of Syrian politicians were assembled together to make the coalition of opposition and it was termed to be the representative of the people of Syria. On the other hand, people of Syria are not happy of the bloodshed that continues in their country on the name of democracy and they prefer the reign of Bashar-ul-Assad in which they were deprived of some democratic rights but their lives were safe.

In this war of objectives, they have lost thousands of their loved ones and they are not happy of this war. They have understood that their country has become the battlefield for the great powers of the world and their brothers and sisters have become the fuel of this brutal war.

The United States and Western powers greatly support the opposition of Syria but in this regard, the rules of political fair-play should not be ignored.
