The Nasty Face of Syrian War

The Syrian war is increasingly portraying its ugliest face. Syrian young girls are trafficked or reluctantly get married to wealthy Arab individuals in the gulf countries. Religious symbols come under attacks. Desert executions have become so widespread that do not catch the interest of journalists. People around the world have also created a cyst around their sentiments and close and flip the pages of horrific incidents only by saying sorry.

Sorry! A suicide bombing killed 20 people, half of the women and children. Today five people were executed for following particular sect of Islam. Syrian government bombed homes and left tens dead! Finally, everything comes to an end by a sorry. Following video clips from cities like Homs, it becomes clear how the country has changed.

From a peaceful and stable country that was competing with regional powers, now it has changed into a war torn country, much similar to weak states in Africa.

The ugliest face of the war appeared on Tuesday when a video clip posted on Youtube and social networks showing a well-known rebel piercing the chest of a Syrian soldier, takes out his heart and takes a bite, then with mouth full of blood starts talking, “I swear to God we will eat your hearts and your livers, you dog of Bashar al-Assad”.

He is recognized a well-known chief of rebels in Homs. He is recognized as Abu Saqar who leads a group called the Independent Omer Farouq Brigade. The name of the group shows how the Syrian war has turned sectarian. Perhaps, this group with such a name tries to summon radical and conservative individuals to fight the so-called ruling Shiite government.

The video has sparked huge criticism and Syrian rebels promised to bring him to trail. But it is not clear whether such trail may take place or not. Even if it takes place, no one can ignore how the war has turned nasty. Previously, all were afraid of Al-Nusra group which openly announced its linkage with al-Qaeda network. The video tells us that even groups far nastier than al-Nusra have infiltrated the oppositions. It also indirectly says that opposition coalition does not assert much influence on groups fighting with Syrian Army. So, in such a condition, hoping for Bashar al-Assad collapse may not solve the problem but may likely deteriorate it.
