Taliban Continues Terror…

Taliban suicide bombers once again rocked Kabul on Friday afternoon attacking the office of the International Organization for Migration and a medical facility of the National Directorate of Security. Two Afghan police officers were killed and five terrorists gunned down in a construction site where they had entered and were making their attacks.

Two foreign staff of IOM were said to have sustained injuries, with one in critical condition. Gunfire and explosions continued, but without creating a panic across the city putting all on lockdown, life continued as usual without any disturbance in other areas.

As usual, the Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack saying it targeted a CIA facility, which does not exist in reality. They claimed a group of suicide bombers targeted the area. However, journalists report quickly effective reaction from the Afghan National Security Forces who gunned down four of the bombers within first three hours of the attack.

Militants continue terror with deadliest tactics each time. But the Government continues to make us believe their so-called ‘peace process’ is going well, more like a delay-tactic by the Taliban to deceive the Government, which is pursuing a policy of appeasement that will lead to nowhere.

Taliban have threatened worst attacks for Kabul this summer. A special unit headed by a commander in Peshawar has been tasked to launch suicide attacks in capital in the year before security and power transition in Kabul. They want to show all their strength. The security agencies should increase extra checks and preparedness for sudden attacks in heart of the city, as they choose new locations each time.

Taliban still dream about taking over Afghanistan and implement their brand of inhumane extremism. The Government’s mantra of talks will lead to nowhere. Their increasing attacks since last month show their intentions well about the so-called peace and reconciliation process that seems to be out of the lens these days.

It seems all the claims and meetings from Qatar to Kabul are not working to set a mechanism for talks, while the Government has been hush for past several weeks on the issue, since the Kabul-Islamabad swings. All that has remained for media consumption is the exchange of accusations.

Taliban have been quite clear and persistent with their agenda. They continue slaughtering innocent civilians in bloodbath.  There is not a single day when a civilian or member of the ANP or ANA is not being killed.
