On Mother’s day

There is a proverb that says, “Allah the Almighty had to show His compassion and love for his creatures; therefore, He made mothers.” And there is a common English saying that someone is really brave to be a mother, someone strong to raise a child and someone special to love someone more than herself, pretty much shows how mothers are valuable. That is why, every year on June 12, some parts of the world honors mothers and motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. Mother’s Day is celebrated annually on various days in different parts of the world, but in our country Afghanistan it is celebrated on June 12.

Mother is really beautiful, angelic, sweet, lovely, fair, kindhearted, wondrous, persistent and patient. From the filthy nappies to the teenage tantrums she watches and makes her children grow. Like a gardener whose passion is roses, she cultivates them with great care and meticulous attention. She prunes them whenever they went astray. She sees their potential to be as beautiful as a rose.

Mother is not a mother only to their children but to the world. Allah has blessed mothers with myriads of qualities and in response the mothers display those qualities towards their children and ultimately towards the world, which makes the world a better place to live in. Mother gives the children many gifts. Of course there are many tangible gifts, the things, the clothes, the shoes and financial gifts but most important gift that she gives to the children is a better personality and better future.

She dedicates her emotions to them and those emotions allow them to live their lives with joy and passion and a whole heart. It is important for all the people to thank and understand the efforts and love of the mothers on Mother’s Day and thank her for her gratitude, and appreciate her for the multitude of gifts she has given to them. Our mothers are our true and eternal gifts from Allah, the Beneficent. Care them before they are parted from us.

Tenacity. Some people probably call this stubbornness. You have it and so do I. But it is a great quality that enables us to push through, stick it out, not give up, never settle for less. I wouldn’t want to be without tenacity, because I don’t think I could have lived through my life without it. Thank you.
