Rising Insecurity in Kajran District of Daikundi

Security is still a serious challenge for Afghan security forces and it is believed that it will remain so in the times to come. It is really important for Afghan concerned authorities and security forces to prove that they have the capacity to control insurgency and guarantee a peaceful and more secure life to all the people. However, in that regard they would require support and assistance from the Afghan leaders and the international community.

As the election and the withdrawal of security forces near, the security challenges seem to be mounting in different parts of the country and Taliban insurgents are make their positions strong. In a recent concern in this regard the residents of Kajran district of Daikundi province have warned that the district may fall into Taliban’s hands unless proper attention is paid and suitable measures are carried out. The residents of the district transferred their concern to the provincial governor, who paid visit to the area along with the Kandahar police chief, the 205th Atal Military Corps Commander and the ISAF Commander in the south.

According to the statement of Mullah Syed Hassan, Kajran Ulema Council Chief, the roads connecting the town with other parts of the country had been closed by insurgents over the past few months that have resulted in considerable rise in the food prices. The residents believed that the insurgents had gotten into the district from Baghran district of southern Helmand province, where insurgents have a stronghold.

The claim was confirmed by Governor Amir Mohammad Akhundzada and he believes that rising insecurity would result in disturbing the security situation in Uruzgan province and he suggested that a military operation should be conducted to curb the situation and stop the insurgency to spill uncontrollably. At the same time Gen. Abdul Hamid, the 205th Atal Military Corps Commander added that military operations would be conducted in all those parts of the country where Taliban are thought to have control.

It is important for Afghan security forces that they show that any sort of insurgency would not be allowed and also make the insurgents believe that Afghan security forces have high hand and have the capacity to control the situation properly. Afghan political leaders and the international security forces in the country must support them in doing so as it would have influence on the security situation in the times to come.
