At Least 21 Die after Asylum Seeker Boat Sinks in Indonesia

It is in the nature of human beings to be attracted towards the places that are attractive and beautiful. Therefore, they make efforts to find out ways of visiting those places and have valuable experience. These efforts have contributed in developing the tourism industry around the world and make it contribute to international economy.

Tourism, for some of the countries that have bewitching and historical places, is a valuable industry. Such countries strive to further develop their tourist-attracting places, in order to add money to their GDP.

Tourism is not only valuable for the countries where tourists visit but it is also of great worth for the tourists as well. The tourists consider their tours full of excitement, adventure and knowledge, which they think they can never gain from books, magazines or newspapers. Therefore, it is important this industry should be developed. For the same purpose, September 27th is celebrated as World Tourism Day.

The date is celebrated as World Tourism Day by United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) since 1980 and it was chosen in 1970 with the adoption of Statutes of UNWTO. The main purpose of the day has been to disseminate awareness on the role and importance of tourism throughout the world and at the same time highlight its cultural, social, political and economic values.

According to current estimates tourism is an industry that is worth a trillion dollar. Over one billion tourists make tours around the world while around five to six billion tourists make domestic tours. This clearly depicts that the industry has great importance and bulk in world economy.

One World Tourism Day, Afghanistan must also pledge to strive to develop its tourism sector. There are some attractive and historical places in the country that can attract many tourists each year. Unfortunately, much attention has not been paid to the sector and many of the tourists sites are decaying and debilitating.

On the other hand the situation of peace and security has not been very much satisfactory; therefore, the tourists have avoided visiting Afghanistan to a large extent.

The relevant government authorities must make sure that they take every step to, at least, save the tourist sites and make them better, so that they are able to attract those tourists who will to come and visit them. In that way tourism would be able to have some role in contributing to the country’s economy which requires great support and attention.
