Parliament Asks Karzai for Answers

KABUL - Some parliamentarians said on Sunday that President Hamid Karzai has spent $80 million of Kabul Bank during his presidential campaigns and bought 75 armored vehicles using money of the bank to carry on his campaign.
Lawmakers called on President Karzai to provide answers to the representatives of people.

"Poor people hardly made accounts to save their money, but one person withdraws $80 million and spends all of it in presidential campaign and in his own interest," Hajji Abdul Zaher Qadir, Afghan MP, told the house.

Lawmakers in an open vote decided to cancel summer holiday for the government to introduce the remaining cabinet members, members of Supreme Court and Attorney General to the house for approval.
"We have called on the government for nearly a month to introduce the remaining ministers, members of Supreme Court and Attorney General, but the government refuses to pay any attention," Mohammad Naem Lalai Hamidzai, Afghan MP, said. "I don't know whether the government is illegitimate or the parliament."
This is the fourth time that the Afghan House of Representatives refuses to go for summer holiday. (Tolo News)
