Ghani to MoD: Target All Militants Groups Without Mercy

President Ashraf Ghani has ordered the Army officers to target all militants groups that are considered the enemies of Afghanistan, according to Ministry of Defense (MoD) officials. In an event marking the completion of security transition, the deputy MoD minister, Baz Mohammad Jawhari, told the security forces on Sunday that attack the enemies without mercy as instructed by the Ghani. "You know what did President Ashraf Ghani ordered when he came to the ministry of defense?

He told us to eliminate all the armed groups operating under the names of Daesh [ISIS], al-Qaeda or Taliban that attack our security forces," Jawhari told the security forces. These statements were expressed after some local officials in Helmand and Nimruz provinces confirmed sightings of apparent IS fighters with black flags. The rumors of IS presence grew sharply after the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) assumed the full security responsibility from NATO troops who have declared end of their combat mission in Afghanistan.

In addition, Jawhari applauded the citizens for their broad support towards the security forces, believing it a great asset for ANSF. "Our biggest asset is people's support which we already have and it means more than tanks, arms, ammunition and other equipments," Jawhari commended. "As long as we have this support, we will never be defeated." Since the formally declared end of NATO combat mission in Afghanistan, the citizens from young to old and men to women; all the people come up to show their solidarity with ANSF and have promised to stand behind them.
