Breshna Takes Legal Action on Delinquent Electricity Bills

KABUL - Da Afghan Breshna electric company announced that the names of a number of government officials and private businesses with delinquent electricity bills, totaling nearly one billion AFG, have been referred to the Attorney General's office.

Reportedly Breshna has already cut the transmission line for the Ghori Cement Company because it failed to pay its electricity bill.

"Despite our persistent pressures, a number of government and private institutions failed to ensure payment of their electricity consumption bills, therefore, we referred them to the attorney as part of our legal action against them and in hopes of receiving the money," Breshna chief Mirwais Alimi said on Monday.

Officials from the Attorney General's office have said that, in joint cooperation with the Ministry of Interior (MoI), the debtors will be investigated and possibly introduced to judicial authorities.

"The Breshna company has introduced a number of its debtors to us and their cases are now under investigation," Attorney General spokesman Basir Azizi said. "The attorney will strive to ensure that the bills are paid, but if the money isn't paid, we will introduce the debtors to the court." (Tolonews)
