Terrorism Not to be Tied to Any Religion: Ghani

KABUL - President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has said that terrorism has no religion and the terrorists are only tarnishing the image of Islam.

In a statement from the Presidential Palace, Ghani expressed these views during his meeting with the deputy defense secretary of the United States on Tuesday.

Underlining decisive action to root out terror, the president said that regional and global efforts were needed to combat the menace, which was posing a threat to international peace.

“Terrorism has no religion and over 4,000 Afghan scholars have recently condemned terror,” the president added.

He thanked the people of America for their constant support to Afghanistan and expressed optimism that Washington backing would continue in future.

The US official reassured America’s long-term support to the Afghan people and the government. (Pajhwok)
