Iranian Province's Exports to Afghanistan Exceed $160mln

TEHRAN - The Eastern Province of South Khorassan exported nearly $162mln of various types of commodities to neighboring Afghan provinces.

Head of the provincial Trade Organization Nematollah Haqiqi said on Sunday that the province's exports to Afghanistan have witnessed at least 18 percent of growth.

He went on to say that 35 percent of exports to Afghanistan were fruits and dried fruits, and voiced readiness of the province's tire industry to attract investment of Afghan industrial activists.

Iran is one of the most important donors to Afghanistan which has kept its promises to help to the reconstruction of the war-hit country.

Iran has built some roads, power transmission lines, and border stations, among the other infrastructure projects which would better link the two nations.

Iran has also contributed more than $50mln annually to Afghan anti-narcotics efforts in the last decade. (FNA)
