Danish Introduces 16 Cabinet Nominees to Parliament

The second Vice President Mohammad Sarwar Danish on Wednesday introduced the remaining cabinet picks, except the defense ministry nominee, to the Parliament for a vote of confidence.

KABUL - The nominees for the much-awaited two-third of the cabinet were announced about two weeks ago, a few days before the trip of President Ashraf Ghani and CEO Abdullah Abdullah to the United States.

The nominees ‎introduced after more than six months since the formation of unity government are as follows:

Hamayoun Rassa as the Minister of Commerce and Industries; Abdul Bari Jahani as the Minister of Information and Culture; Asadullah Zameer as the Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock; Gulab Mangal as the Minister of Borders and Tribal Affairs; Mahmood Baleegh as the Minister of Public Works; Abdul Sattar Murad as the Minister of Economy; Mohammadullah Batash as the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation; Asadullah Hanif Balkhi as the Minister of Education; Sayed Mansour Sadat Nadiri as the Minister of Urban Development; Abdul Basir Anwar as the Minister of Justice; Abdul Razaq Wahidi as the Minister of Information Technology; Dilbar Nazari as the Minister of Women's Affairs; Salamat Azimi as the Minister of Counter-Narcotics; Farida Momand as the Minister of Higher Education; Nasrin Oryakhail as the Minister of Labors and Social Affairs and Ali Ahmad Osmani as the Minister of Water and Energy.

While introducing the ministerial nominees, Danish emphasized that the government re‎spected the decision of the House of Representatives.

Touching on the issue of 31 Zabul abductees, Danish stressed that such an act would not divide the people of Afghanistan.

"We are taking every steps for the release of Zabul hostages," Danish assured.

He also strongly condemned killing of Farkhunda, and promised to bring the perpetrators to justice.

"Whoever neglected Farkhunda's murder or neglect her case will be prosecuted and removed from their positions," Danish warned. (Tolonews)
