Joint Efforts Needed to Curb Terrorism: President

KABUL - President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has said that joint efforts are needed to counter terror threat as the menace is gaining momentum.

The president expressed this in his meeting with Asif Ali Zardari, former Pakistani president and co-chairman of Pakistan People’s Party here in Kabul late Thursday night, a statement from the Presidential Palace said.

Former prime minister Sayed Yousuf Raza Gilani and others were present in the meeting.

Both the leaders discussed bilateral relations and economic cooperation at length, the statement added. The president informed that Pakistan, Afghanistan and the entire region were faced with serious threats and sincere efforts were needed to tackle the menace.

Calling it a result-oriented meeting, Zardari noted that Ghani’s economic vision was a bold step for the development of the region and ensured his complete support for the prosperity of the region.

Zardari assured to bring a delegation of investors and businessmen to Kabul during his next visit. The delegation reached Kabul on Thursday and had held meetings with Afghan officials in which several issues came under discussion. (Pajhwok)
