Hiding Mullah Omar’s Death Historical Blunder

KABUL - Tendering resignation as head of Taliban’s political office in Qatar, Mullah Mohammad Tayyab Agha has said keeping late Mullah Muhammad Omar’s death secret is a historical blunder.

Tayyab Agha expressed these views in his interview with Al-Jazeera TV on Tuesday and called Mullah Mansoor’s nomination as yet another wrong decision by Taliban.

According sources, Tayyab Agha mentioned in his resignation that leaders who had been nominated out of Afghan territory did not meet good fortune.

“Keeping Mullah Omar’s death secret is a historic blunder. Peace process through Pakistan is not more than a game,” he said, adding he quit his job as head of Taliban’s political office in Qatar and would not share any news from the office.

He wound not intervene in any official matter of the office from now onward. He asked Taliban leaders to nominate their leader and made all other important decisions in Afghanistan instead.

The differences among Taliban group spread soon after the announcement of Mullah Omar’s demise last week.

Afghan government announced Mullah Omar’s had died in a hospital in Karachi in Pakistan while Taliban rejected the allegations but had not mentioned where and when he had died.

Taliban announced Mullah Mansoor’s appointment with the consent of the group but Mullah Abdul Manan--- Mullah Omar’s brother--- opposed Mullah Mansoor’s appointment in an audio interview.

Media reports said that prominent Taliban leader had not participated in the gathering when Mullah Mansoor was nominated while few other leading leaders left the gathering as a protest against Mansoor nomination.

Supreme council of Islamic Emirates of Afghanistan had also opposed Mullah Manoor’s nomination and announced that the council would announce new leaders after Mullah Omar’s memorial ceremonies were over.

Zabihullah Mujahid, Taliban spokesman, rejected the news of differences within the group and tweeted on Tuesday that western media spread the news of differences among Taliban. He suggested to contact Taliban media office for accurate information regarding Taliban related issues. (Pajhwok)
