KABUL - President Ashraf Ghani has underlined on Friday that Afghanistan needs to develop political and religious consensus in the current state of affairs.

Ghani expressed these views in his meeting with a number of religious leaders, officials, politicians and tribal leaders, a statement from the President Palace said.

The president categorically condemned suicide attacks in Logar and Kabul and prayed to Almighty Allah to rest the departed souls in eternal peace.

At a time when the death of Mullah Mohammad Omar is confirmed, Ghani said that religious leaders should tell people that why Afghans were not told the truth about his demise.

By using the name of late Mullah Omar, some powers used to shed the blood of innocent Afghans, the president remarked.

He thanked Afghan Ulama for serving the people of Afghanistan and safeguarding Islam.

He said that “we had weak government since long but we had strong support and foundation of religious and Jihadi leaders who would always be ready to offer sacrifices for protecting the motherland.”

It had been the cry of the day that Afghanistan specifically would form a group of religious leaders, elders and all stakeholders who would create political and religious consensus in the country, he said, adding: “I would like to be treated like a true servant of the people like Caliphates to revive our past history and not like a president. Besides, I would like clerics of the state to get united for the future of Afghanistan.”

Ghani emphasized that peace and unity should be mainly focused from every mosque, religious seminary and schools and everyone should raise about the unity of Afghanistan.

The current situation had exposed all those who did not want prosperous Afghanistan and instead who had been involved in bloodshed of Afghanistan.

He pointed towards a bomb blast in a mosque in Saudi Arabia and said that it was the high time to get united and stop bloodshed in the name of Islam. (Pajhwok)
