Judicial Reform to Help End Insecurity: Deputy CEO

KABUL - First deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mohammad Khan on Monday said judicial reforms and rule of law could help Afghanistan get rid of insecurity and misfortunes.

He was talking at a gathering on judicial reforms, in which UNDP, UNAMA and Justice Ministry officials were present, a statement from Khan’s office said.

The gathering agreed on a series of proposed amendments to laws concerning justice and judicial organs, the statement said.

Mohammad Khan told the gathering that judicial reforms could help overcome many problems the society faced.

The UN Rule of Law Unit chief in Kabul said donor agencies had spent millions of dollars for reforms in the justice and judicial system of Afghanistan, but little progress had been achieved.

He said a strong political will and assistance from visionary organs could help bring reforms to the system. (Pajhwok)
