MoU Inked to Improve Quality of Domestically Produced Items

KABUL - The Afghanistan Investment Support Agency (AISA) and the Afghanistan National Standards Authority (ANSA) on Saturday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to improve quality of domestically produced items.

Mohammad Qurban Haqjoy, head of AISA, said the agreement would help improve standard and quality of domestic products in national and international markets.

He laid great emphasis over the standardization help positive competition in production and improved the quality of products.

He said import of low quality goods inflicted huge losses on businessmen and consumers. The official promised that AISA in coordination with other organizations would prevent import of low quality goods and services inside the country.

ANSA’s head Popal Popalzai warned against huge trade deficit and said that Afghanistan should focus over its domestic production with improved quality.

He said ANSA had huge achievements in the short time since its inception and independency. According to Popalzai, so far 471 standards had been developed inside the country. (Pajhwok)
