Risk of Penetration of Terrorist Groups Increases: Putin

BISHKEK – The risk of penetration of the terrorist groups into the countries neighboring with Afghanistan has increased, said President of Russia Vladimir Putin at the CSTO summit in Dushanbe on Tuesday.

"We are concerned about the situation in Afghanistan. International Security Assistance Force was in this country for a long time, and made some efforts, including the positive work, but in the end, it did not bring the final qualitative improvement of the situation," said Putin.

After the withdrawal of the main part of foreign troops, the situation in the country is degrading, according to him.

The territory of the Islamic State went far beyond Iraq and Syria. Terrorists organize mass executions, create chaos and poverty of people, destroy cultural monuments, religious shrines, added Putin.

“We support the government of Syria in counteraction to terrorist aggression. We provided and will provide necessary military and technical assistance and call upon other countries to join us,” President Putin said.

“I would like to note that people flee from hostilities in Syria, which were largely imposed from outside through supplies of weapon and other special equipment. People flee from atrocities of terrorists,” President Putin underscored. (AKIpress)
