ANKARA - The tenth G20 summit has kicked off in the southwestern Turkish city of Antalya on Sunday amid tight security after deadly attacks in Paris where hundreds of people were killed and wounded.

Around 13,000 officials and 3,000 journalists from across the world have reached to Belek town, which has been declared a high-security Red Zone and a virtual no-go zone for the non-delegates, for the summit at the town’s Regnum Carya Hotel Convention Center.

Thousands of additional security personnel have been deployed and high-tech surveillance systems placed as leaders of the world’s 20 top economies congregated for the two-day G20 Summit in the resort town.

The summit is made up of 19 countries and the EU but this year, six more countries have been invited as guests.

Over 12,000 security personnel, drone detection equipments, 350 mobile cameras with license-plate recording and face-recognition systems are part of the measures taken for the meeting.

More than this, no tourists are allowed to stay in the hotels in Belek until the end of the summit.,

Market places and shops have been closed and barricades and placed by security forces alongside roads leading to the venue.

The country’s national defense and security agencies have been put on alert to respond to any possible threat.

The world leaders taking part in the summit include U.S. President Barack Obama, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and the heads of the World Bank, International Monetary Fund (IMF) and other international organizations.
