Justice is Critical to the Well-Being of Afghanistan: Ghani

KABUL - Addressing graduation ceremony of 470 policewomen on Sunday, President Ashraf Ghani said the new graduates are symbols of justice to their countrymen. Praising the women, he also thanked their families for having allowed them to join the force and take part in the training process.

Ghani pointed out that "justice is critical to the well-being of the country" and that the Afghan Constitution is the main tool for police to use to defend people's rights and to ensure justice is served.

Ghani also said that one of the key elements to securing peace in the country in future is linked to that of defending women's rights in the country.

The graduation ceremony held on Sunday was also attended by high-ranking officials including Minister of Interior Noorulhaq Ulomi.

Ulomi said that the graduates are a beacon of hope especially as so many Afghan women may not work freely outside their homes.

This is part of the Ministry of Interior's move to increase the number of policewomen. (Tolonews)
