60 Police Abandon 7 Posts  in  Dehrawud District

TIRINKOT - Dozens of police have abandoned their posts in Dehrawud district and arrived in the capital of central Uruzgan province after developing differences with the district police chief, an official said on Sunday.
Dost Mohammad Nayab, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News at least 60 policemen arrived in Tirinkot, the provincial capital, late on Saturday.
A former provincial council chief, Amanullah Hotaki, said the policemen had been stationed in Zartali locality and they left their posts after a verbal clash with the district police chief.
The Deharwud district chief, Aminullah Khaliqi, confirmed the police had abandoned seven check-posts and gone to the provincial capital with their weapons and ammunition.
But the district police chief, Haji Niaz Mohammad, who took charge two days back, said around 60 policemen had left their posts and set alight the facilities.
He said he had no information where the policemen had gone, but investigation into the incident had been launched. (Pajhwok)
