LASHKARGH - Boarders and Tribal Affairs Minister Gulab Mangal on Friday arrived in southern Helmand province to seek the supporter of tribal elders for the security of Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan Indian (TAPI) gas pipeline and country’s borders.
Mangal said work over the 1,735 kilometres long gas pipeline had been started in Turkmenistan and would be launched soon in Afghanistan. He said the purpose of his visit to Helmand was to talk to the local elders for the security of the vital pipeline.
Answering to a question the minister said Pakistani forces have violated the Durand Line and moved inside Afghan territory in different provinces, including Helmand.
He said it was known to everyone that war was not solution to issues, adding that participation of people and their involvement was necessary for durable peace and stability in the country.
Mangal said Dishu, Khanshin and Garamsir were the districts situated on the Durand Line with Pakistan. He said he would talk to the tribal elders of these areas to ensure the protection of TAPI gas pipeline.
Few months back, TAPI countries finally inked the implantation accord of the projects and the construction work of the pipeline was launched. (Pajhwok)
