President Orders  Assistance for IDPs in Nangarhar, Baghlan

KABUL - President Ashraf Ghani on Thursday directed the officials concerned to provide urgent assistance to internally displaced persons (IDPs) in eastern Nangarhar and northern Baghlan provinces.
During a video conference with military and civil officials from eastern and southeastern zones, President Ghani was updated about recent developments in the creation of reserve forces in the 201st and 203rd military crops and security situation in the zones, a statement from the Presidential Palace said.
Then the acting defence minister, the interior minister, the acting National Directorate of Security (NDS ) chief and the Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG) head presented their suggestions regarding the security situation, the statement added.
The president praised officials of the military corps and thanked security forces for defeating Taliban  and Daesh insurgents in their provinces.
He also ordered that the displaced families who left their homes due to atrocities of terrorists in some districts of Nangarhar, should be provided with urgent assistance.
He also instructed officials to provide urgent assistance to families affected and displaced by the recent war in Dand-i-Ghori and Dand-i-Shahabuddin areas of Baghlan, the statement said.
The president also insisted that the situation of locations where checkpoints existed, their effectiveness and the presence of personnel should be assessed in order to create reserve forces from some of the personnel where there was no need for checkpoints. (Pajhwok)
