Slain Policemen’s Families Given Apartment Keys

KABUL - The keys of 59 residential apartments were handed over on Thursday to families of slain police officials in the central capital Kabul.
Construction of the buildings in the fourth police district had cost 64 million afghanis donated by Italy.
Interior Minister Taj Mohammad Jahid gave away the keys of the 59 apartments to the families of martyred policemen.
While handing over the keys, the minister said it was just a small appreciation of the supreme sacrifices police forces had rendered for the country.
The buildings would somehow resolve housing problems of the families, he said, adding the Ministry of Interior was also planning to resolve problems of families of martyrs, people with disabilities and the injured in future.
Jahid thanked Italy for the aid and said Italy was not only helping Afghans in reconstruction projects, but also in security sector, counter-insurgency and building security forces.
Wolesi Jirga’s interior security commission head Mirdad Najrabi hailed the distribution of apartments but said security forces would lose trust in the government if it did not pay attention to the problems of martyrs’ families, people with disabilities and the injured.
