Ghani Warns Militants of Revenge for Killing of Afghans

KABUL - President Ashraf Ghani, while visiting the people injured in Tuesday’s devastating attack on an elite security agency in Kabul, has promised revenge for the killing of innocent Afghans.
A statement from the Presidential Palace said Ghani visited the injured at the Sardar Mohammad Daud Khan Hospital on Tuesday evening when doctors briefed him on condition of the injured.
The presided prayed for the swift recovery of the wounded and condemned the massive assault as an anti-Islam and inhuman act, the statement added.
“All Afghans and I raise our voice daily for peace and reconciliation. But Allah enjoins upon us to stand united and firm against those attacking us,” the statement quoted Ghani as saying.
Addressing the militants, the president said they had failed to fight against the security forces on the battlefield as a large number of rebels had been killed during recent clashes.
“We had no intention to kill you, but you are forcing us to do so,” Ghani said, adding such attacks were carried out by the enemies of Afghans -- a euphemism for the insurgents.
“All Afghans are equal and we will seek revenge for each drop of our people’s blood,” the president warned. The Afghan nation, having 5,000 years old history and known for their strong resistance, could not be divided, he said.
“You should know we are following the path of Allah and his prophet, but you are headed in a wrong and devious direction,” the president told the Taliban, who claimed responsibility for the Kabul bombing. (Pajhwok)
