NAO Wants Europe to Stop Discriminating Against Afghans

NAO Wants Europe to Stop Discriminating Against Afghans

KABUL - The New Attitude Organisation (NAO) on Thursday criticised West’s discriminatory attitude toward Afghan asylum seekers and asked the United Nations (UN) and European Union (EU) to check the double standards.
NAO Director Abdul Qayyum Naderi told reporters in Kabul that Afghans asylum seekers should neither be deported nor discriminated against.
“These double standards are violative of human rights and European values; they must be shunned. All countries should accept refugees and provide proper living conditions for them in accordance with international principles,” he said.
Naderi urged the European countries to respect Afghan asylum seekers and not to treat them differently from Syrians or Iraqis.
Another member of the organisation, Najia Najwa, urged the UNHCR, charitable organisations, Human Rights Watch and Human Rights Commission of EU to pressure the countries to correct their discriminatory behaviour.
NAO also called on the Afghan government to prevent youths from mass immigration by providing them work opportunities and improving the security situation in the country. (Pajhwok)
