Walk the Talk on Terrorism, Senators Ask President Ghani

KABUL - President Ashraf Ghani on Tuesday denounced the killers of Afghan security forces and civilians as terrorists who, if detained, would be sentenced to death.
Ghani expressed the views during his meeting with district managers of the National Directorate of Security (NDS) at the Presidential Palace here.
A statement from the Presidential Palace quoted him as saying that the elements revolting against the government were the enemies of Afghanistan.
“Daesh and other terrorist groups, which kill children, women, elders and other innocent people will be eliminated by the Afghan security forces,” the president warned.
His administration had convinced the world of the validity of its stance as most countries stood behind Afghanistan and promised it continue support in economic and military fields, he claimed.
The security personnel, particularly special forces, were unbeatable in the region and could conduct successful military operations against militants in any part of the country, Ghani said.
He ordered NDS officials to tighten the noose around terrorists’ necks, create fear among them, block their funding and logistical sources and destroy their hideouts.
Ghani said ensuring highway security would boost public trust in the government, calling protection of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) pipeline project another responsibility of the security forces. (Pajhwok)
