WB to Give $60m  to Finance Ministry

KABUL - The World Bank (WB) would provide about $60 million (2.8 billion Afghanis) for the improvement of Afghanistan's financial sector, an official said on Tuesday. The money would be spent on capacity building of government servants and framing new policies as well as monitoring, Ministry of Finance spokesman Aziz Shams told .

An agreement to the effect was signed between Minister of Finance Hazrat Umar Zakhilwal and World Bank Country Director for Afghanistan Nicholas Krafft.

The assistance, which would resolve the government's financial problems, would be spent over the next three years, Shams said.
