Zakhilwal, Shehbaz Sharif Discuss Refugee Problems

KABUL - Afghan ambassador in Islamabad Dr. Omar Zakhilwal has discussed with the chief minister of Pakistan’s Punjab province, Shehbaz Sharif, problems being faced by Afghan refugees.
A statement from the Afghan Embassy in Islamabad said Zakhilwal talked with Sharif about harassment of Afghan refugees in Pakistan, particularly in Punjab province, at the hands of police.
The two also discussed Afghan traders’ problems, transit trade and Afghan goods through Pakistan-India Wagah border.
Also President Ashraf Ghani’s special representative for Pakistan, Zakhilwal invited Shehbaz Sharif to visit Kabul in near future on behalf of President Ghani.
Shehbaz Sharif promised to issue earliest and overt directives to the Punjab police to avoid harassing Afghan refugees.
He also promised to remove hurdles in the way of transit trade in the limits of Punjab province. The two also agreed to hold meetings in future as well on the subjects discussed.
Shehbaz Sharif also thanked President Ghani for inviting him to Kabul and promised to visit the Afghan capital with a delegation in the near future. (Pajhwok)
