NATO Ministers Set to Discuss Funding for Afghan Forces

KABUL - A two-day NATO ministerial meeting, due to begin in Brussels on Tuesday, will review the situation in Afghanistan, a top US diplomat has said.
The defence ministers’ meeting represented the last policy stepping stone before the Warsaw Summit, penciled in for July 8-9, the US ambassador to NATO said on Monday.
Douglas Lute told journalists at the Warsaw Summit NATO would send a clear, unmistakable message that it stood with Afghanistanin two concrete ways.
“First of all, we’re looking to secure funding pledges for the Afghan National Security Forces all the way out to 2020. That funding campaign is not complete yet...” the envoy said.
The Resolute Support Mission will also figure at the meeting, with participants discussing avenues of generating alliance forces to continue to support the campaign, as well as train, advise and assist Afghan forces.(Pajhwok)
