Refugee Camps in Pakistan Safe Havens for Terrorists: Aziz

PESHAWAR - Afghan refugee camps in Pakistan have become safe havens for terrorists, a senior diplomat alleged, calling for their early repatriation.
Foreign Policy Advisor Sartaj Aziz said in an interview aired late on Monday Pakistani armed forces had been able to dismantle the militants’ infrastructure in the tribal region.
But the issue of Afghan refugees had emerged a new security threat for Pakistan, he told SAMAA TV channel. The refugee camps had turned into "safe havens for terrorists" due to unregulated movements.
Aziz reiterated: "We have re-established our writ in FATA, but if the Afghanistan border remains unregulated, our tribal areas can't stay safe."
He underlined the need for the repatriation of Afghan refugees, saying the process should be gradual and Pakistan would need a plan of action.(Pajhwok)
