KABUL - Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday telephoned President Ashraf Ghani and assured him of Islamabad’s strong commitment to deepening cooperation with Kabul in fighting the scourge of terrorism, which he called common enemy.
According to Radio Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif during his conversation with President Ghani conveyed his heartfelt condolences on behalf of the people and the government of Pakistan over Saturday’s twin suicide blasts that ripped through crowds of people.
At least 80 people were killed and 231 others were wounded in the attack in Kabul, for the Islamic State or Daesh group had claimed responsibility.
Nawaz Sharif strongly condemned the brutal act of terrorism, mercilessly killing of fellow human beings.
He extended deepest sympathies and prayers to all the families who lost their loved ones in the heinous act and wished early recovery for those who have been injured.
The PM said the government and people of Pakistan stood shoulder to shoulder with the government of Afghanistan and their Afghan brethren in this hour of need.
Afghan President Ashraf Ghani thanked the Prime Minister for expressing solidarity with the government and people of Afghanistan at this critical moment.
He said that both the countries have been facing repeated attacks of terrorists which are harming our people. Ghani appreciated Prime Minister's condolences, compassion and concern for the people of Afghanistan as brotherly country. He assured that both countries were together in fighting the war on terror.
