Anti-Graft Efforts Should be Politics-Free: Abdullah

KABUL - Admitting to the fact that activities of a number of government institutions have yet to be assessed, Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah said no one will be allowed to use anti-corruption efforts as a political tool.
He told the Council of Ministers session on Monday that the people will no longer be deceived by impractical commitments and that all government institutions should be thoroughly assessed by the leadership.
"Nothing, no political relation, no tribal relation will prevent us from fighting endemic corruption in public offices. I will let no one use corruption as a political tool," Abdullah said.
He stated: "There is already the concept of good terrorists and bad terrorists, now there is no room to say this is good corruption and another is bad corruption or to say that lets put this one on trial and leave that one. We all are victims of corruption in public offices. No one in this country is the champion of fighting corruption."
Meanwhile, political commentator Mohammad Natiqi said: "There are lots of reasons behind the lack of implementation of government's commitments. Among them are security challenges, political tension and others. The two government leaders should come together and overcome their rift."
"The international community and our donors are fed up with our commitments and remarks; the only thing they need is action," said university lecturer Baz Mohammad Anwari.(Tolonews)
