Govt. Optimistic about Brussels Summit

KABUL - As Afghanistan prepares for next month's Brussels Summit, the office of the Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah said on Wednesday that government is optimistic about the conference and will deliver reports on its achievements.
"The Afghan government will attend the Brussels Summit fully prepared and with many achievements. We hope that we satisfy the international community at the conference," said Abdullah's deputy spokesman Jawed Faisal.
Meanwhile, a number of former government officials criticized the National Unity Government (NUG), saying that the situation is still fragile and that expected changes have not happened.
"In the past two years, not only has instability increased but now people doubt more about their future," said Wahidullah Shahrani, former minister of mines.
"The biggest reason behind the lack of improvement in different sectors is the lack of trust between government leaders as they have not succeeded so far to trust each other," said Sayed Ahmad Ahmadi, political commentator.
"They [NUG leaders] have not succeeded to make a team in order to assess internal and external challenges. We would have stability today if the team was formed," said former commerce minister Mohammad Amin Farhang. (Tolonews)
