NATO FMs to Reaffirm Commitments to Afghanistan

NATO FMs to Reaffirm Commitments to Afghanistan

KABUL - The NATO ministerial level meeting would begin in Brussels, the capital of Belgium, today (Tuesday), a spokesman for the senior civilian representative of the alliance said on Monday.
This would be the first meeting on Afghanistan at the foreign ministers' level after the NATO Summit in Warsaw held on 8-9 July this year, he said.
The meeting would be held in the Resolute Support format, with participation from all 28 allies, plus the entire troop-contributing nations to the NATO-led Resolute Support Mission of training, advising and assistance of the Afghan National Defence and Security Forces.
The UN and the EU had been invited to attend. Both NATO SCR Amb. Aramaz and the commander of the Resolute Support Mission would also participate, according to the spokesman.
The meeting provides an opportunity to reaffirm the commitments towards Afghanistan undertaken by NATO allies and partners, together with the Afghan government in Warsaw this past July.

Afghan Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani is also expected to represent Afghanistan at the meeting.  (Pajhwok)
