CEO Urges Pakistan’s Sincerity in War on Terror

KABUL - Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abdullah Abdullah on Monday urged Pakistan’s honesty in the fight against terrorism, saying support to terrorist groups was threatening the region’s and world’s stability.
Presiding over a Cabinet meeting, Abdullah said last year was full of security challenges for Afghanistan but the Afghan government had meanwhile some achievements as well.
Inauguration of various infrastructure development projects, launching of the National Citizen Charter program, reforms in the election system, introduction of technology to the electoral regime and finalization of electronic ID cards were major steps of the government last year, he said.
The CEO said Pakistan recently closed the crossing points with Afghanistan due to some security issues, while Afghanistan had been the frontline state in the fight against terrorism without differentiating between good and bad terrorists.
“Negotiations are the only solution to all problems with neighbors and measures taken across the Durand Line would not help eradicate terrorism”, he said, adding that the fight against terrorism needed honest cooperation between the two countries.
Abdullah said efforts were underway at establishing peace and Afghan forces were bravely defending their country against disruptors.
Political, economic and military support of terrorist groups was threatening security of the region and the world and Afghanistan expected all regional countries would honestly help the Afghans get rid of extremism, the CEO said.
About summoning of security officials by the Wolesi Jirga, he said powers of the all three pillars were clear and the lower house had the right to summon ministers. (Pajhwok)
