MoAB Attack was a Right Action: Abdullah

KABUL - Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abdullah Abdullah on Monday said the recent GBU-43/B or Massive Ordnance Air Blast (MOAB) attack by the United States in eastern Nangarhar province was a right action, saying many key terrorists were killed in the incident.
Abdullah, who chaired a Cabinet meeting, said the giant bomb was dropped on Daesh or Islamic State (IS) militants because were torturing people.
The CEO said it was a right decision to target the terrorist centers in Achin district, claiming the majority of Afghans supported the bombing.
“People kept saying no serious intention is given to fighting against Daesh, Al Qaeda and Taliban, but now their trust has been restored about the seriousness of the will for fighting terrorism,” Abdullah said.
“Anyone who rises in arm against the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and joins militant groups to target our people is the enemy of Afghanistan,” he said.
He appreciated the Afghan forces’ performance on the battleground and asked their leadership to address security forces’ problems.
Abdullah commented on the massive blast days after former president Hamid Karzai strongly condemned the MOAB attack and said the US had violated Afghanistan’s sovereignty and insulted the honor of Afghans. (Pajhwok)
