Enemy to be Given Tough Time this Summer: Hussainkhel

JALALABAD - Afghan Border Police (ABP) commander Col. Mohammad Ayub Hussainkhel on Tuesday said they had repulsed several militant attacks in the past six months and inflicted heavy casualties on the enemy.
While launching ‘ABP action plan’ for summer, the commander said police achievements this year were great compared to the previous year and their casualties had been low as well.
Hussainkhel said his unit personnel were ready and fully equipped to effectively respond to rebel attacks.
He claimed 667 militants were killed and 367 were wounded in 1,113 attacks in winter, when 5,000 landmines were defused, 10 bags of explosives, 169 detonators, 216 bags of ammonium nitrate, four walkie-talkie and 22 vehicles.
The border police also arrested 511 individuals, including smugglers, during the winter offensive in connection with different crimes, the commander said.
He said security officials had recovered 138 kilogram of hashish, 33 kilograms of heroin, 18 kilograms of opium, 4,904 bullets of different weapons and some other equipment during winter season.
He praised security officials for their untiring efforts at combating insurgency and crimes in the service of the motherland. (Pajhwok)
