High Level Event on Anti-Graft Campaign Today

KABUL - President Ashraf Ghani and EU Ambassador to Afghanistan Franz-Michael Mellbin will co-cost a high level ‘anti-corruption conference’ at the Presidential Palace in Kabul on Monday to mark the end the European Union's 2017 anti-corruption campaign.
"Our campaign has put focus on some of the key challenges when it comes to stepping up the fight against corruption. The conference will address those very same issues,” Mellbin, EU special representative to Afghanistan, said in a statement issued here on Sunday.
With the title 'Intensifying the Fight against Corruption in Afghanistan', the conference will focus on prevention of corruption in the justice, security sectors and the mining industry, the envoy explained, who added ‘prevention and public education’ will be also on the agenda.
Among other speakers at the conference will be Vice-President Sarwar Danish, National Security Advisor Mohammad Hanif Atmar, Acting Minister of Mines and Petroleum Narges Nehan, UN SRSG, Tadamichi Yamamoto and the US Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction John F. Sopko. (Pajhwok)
