Committed to Info-Sharing with Media: CEO

KABUL - Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr. Abdullah has said problems exist in access to information, but the government remains committed to sharing information on time with media.
During a meeting with media representatives in the Sapidar Palace on Wednesday evening, Abdullah acknowledged news outlets operated in a difficult situation and respected national interests.
Hi expressed his condolences over the loss of Tolo and BBC television workers and damage inflicted on the two media outlets in the May 31 Kabul attack. Je praised efforts by journalists in the current critical situation.
“Our main message is for unity, solidarity and brotherhood among the honorable people of Afghanistan. We can live in any conditions if we have unity and sympathy with each other,” the CEO remarked.
Abdullah stressed the need for neutrality, freedom and balance in conveying information to the public. He said the national interests should be a priority in media plans and programmes.
Fortunately, the media had been discharging its responsibility but the government expected more from it, he said. Problems in access to information persisted but the government was committed to sharing information with the media on time, he concluded. (Pajhwok)
