KABUL - The head of the national Ulema Council said the enemies of Afghanistan are targeting mosques and religious gatherings in a bid to divide the people.
The Afghanistan Ulema Council (Religious Scholars Council) has strongly condemned the recent attacks in Kabul and provinces, saying attacks on mosques and religious premises would not harm the unity of the Afghan people.
Qiamuddin Kashaf, the head of the national Ulema Council called on the Afghan people to be more vigilant, saying the enemy wants to divide Afghans by attacking mosques and religious gatherings.
Members of the Ulema Council said that Islam strongly denounces acts of violence and terrorism in all its forms and manifestations
“My message to the Muslims across Afghanistan is to save their brotherhood, solidarity and sympathy and never become the victim of conspiracies of the enemy,” said Kashaf.
“The unity between the Shia and Sunni in Afghanistan has been an example, you cannot see this unity among people in other countries of the world which exists between the different school of thoughts in Afghanistan,” said religious scholar Abdul Khabir Chechka.
Some other scholars said that insurgents, by attacking mosques and religious institutions, will not be able to reach their objectives.
“They (terrorists) can promote Islam by committing such an act, they claim to have been fighting Jihad (Holy war), but what they are doing is not Jihad,” said religious scholar Ayatullah Waeez Behsudi.
“The people of Afghanistan, the enemies of Islam want to kill Muslims in different ways, but they will not be able to reach their objectives through such work,” said religious scholar Mohammad Reza Muzaffar.
The statements come three days after militants associated with Daesh attacked the Al-Zahra mosque in the Afghan capital killing at least five worshipers and wounding dozens more.  (Tolonews)
