US Reaffirms Support for Afghan Reconciliation

KABUL - America’s acting assistant secretary for South and Central Asian affairs and acting special representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan Ambassador Alice Wells have met President Ashraf Ghani.
They also met Chief Executive Officer Abdullah, National Security Advisor Hanif Atmar, acting Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani, and other senior leaders to discuss issues of mutual importance and bilateral cooperation.
A statement from the US embassy said Ambassador Wells also engaged with Resolute Support Commander General John W. Nicholson and other coalition partners during a two-day visit to Kabul.
In addition, Ambassador Wells met Tadamichi Yamamoto, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, and led a roundtable discussion with Afghan women leaders and political analysts.
Wells underscored US support for Afghanistan’s economic and political modernisation, stability, and efforts to promote national reconciliation. (Pajhwok)
